Arknights: How to Recruit & Deploy Operators Strategically

It is easy to progress through Arknights as an F2P player, but only if you have the right strategy and tactics. This guide will give you basic knowledge on Arknight’s gameplay. This includes the basics of gathering materials, operators, completing missions, etc.

Collect Operators Through Headhunt & Recruitment

The best thing about Arknights is that it is not a pay-to-win type of RPG. With a little bit of grind, you’ll get operators from varying tiers. There are two main ways to collect operators and that is through Headhunt and Recruitment. Headhunt uses premium currency and tickets to pull an assortment of characters through a Gacha mechanic.

Recruitment uses tickets and Lungmen Dollars to pull characters based on chosen traits. Setting a high recruitment time gives you better chances of pulling high-tier operators. Even though these two are the most basic ways to get new operators, players will somehow obtain new ones after accomplishing different operations in the game.

Collect Free Orundum in Arknights

Orundum is a premium currency in Arknights online, and they are not easy to come by. To use the headhunt recruitment process, you will need 6,000 of these at the very least. As a beginner, you will be given 3,800 Orundum for free. However, you need to grind for Orundum from daily missions and exchange after that. You should spend the early stages of the game collecting this currency to acquire various characters and later assemble a legion of the best operators.

1. Complete Daily & Weekly Missions

Assuming that you did finish all daily missions, you’ll get around 700 Orundum in a day and 500 for weekly ones. You have a guaranteed 1,200 Orundums in a week if you grind hard enough. Arknights is very generous when it comes to new players and completing all rookie missions could earn you about 2,400 Orundums alone.

2. Join Weekly Operations

Arknights’ weekly operations are referred to as Annihilation. As the name suggests, the main mission here is to annihilate a cluster of Reunion mobs. In this mission, you cannot recover Deployment Points but you will be given Orundum as a reward based on the number of mobs you killed during the fight.

However, be reminded that 1,200 Orundum is the weekly cap and the maximum is 1,600 only if you successfully finish the mission and eliminate the final enemy. It is not a good idea to take on Annihilation missions when you are just a beginner, so try to amp up your skills and heroes first before joining this one. Otherwise, you will be wasting your Sanity as these operations are not easy to complete.

3. Exchange Resources

If you want to earn more Originium or Originite Prime, you must clear all operations with 3-star ratings. You can exchange this with Sanity to advance further in the story campaign and be able to farm more resources from there. You can also exchange Originium Shards for Orundum however, it does not offer a decent amount.

Strategically Deploy Operators on the Field in Arknights

An ideal squad must consist of 1 or 2 Defenders, 2 Snipers, 2 Casters, 2 Vanguards, and 2 Medics and a Specialist. This is the proper composition when you are a rookie as it covers the proper tactical roles. However, as you progress in the game, you will surely gain experience bit by bit. By then, you can experiment on new squad compositions and explore new strategies based on your style.

The position and direction of the deployment of your operators matter. This determines how the battle will play out. You will be required to mix up your strategies based on different situations. So don’t be afraid to do trial and error in deployment. It will give you a good sense of how they work and where and when they are most efficient.

All these tips should ease you through the early game stages of Arknights, and eventually, help you build a viable team. This will also help you avoid common mistakes early on. Keep these tips in mind but most importantly, have fun playing! Download Arknights on your PC and play the game for free!
